Medical Eye Specialists is looking for an individual who can provide high quality, accurate and compassionate care to a diverse patient population. An Ophthalmic Technician displays high proficiency in taking patient histories and is highly organized to fully prepare the patient for their physician appointment. It is a fast-paced, hands-on, detailed-oriented position, so we are looking for applicants who thrive in this type of environment and can show our patients the care and compassion they deserve.
Example duties and responsibilities include:
- Interacts professionally and compassionately with patients daily.
- Initiates patients exams and prepares patients for physician appointments.
- Performs diagnostic testing and imaging.
- Documents symptoms, complaints, medical history, medications, allergies and reactions.
- Instructs patients on proper eye care.
- Assists physicians and other health care providers in the Ophthalmology clinic.

Patient Account/Billing Specialists
Medical Eye Specialists is looking for a full-time patient account specialist to join our team. This position is tailored to someone who thrives in a fast-paced and teamwork-oriented environment. This job consists of answering patient billing questions, interacting with insurance companies to get prior authorizations and resolve unpaid claims, posting patient and insurance payments, and billing out claims.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, able to multitask efficiently, and have excellent communication skills. They must also have great attention to detail and be able to work well with others. This is an IN-PERSON position.

Surgery Liaison
This individual is responsible for supporting patients, surgeons, coordinators and outside providers throughout the surgery scheduling process. Establishing and nurturing co-management relationships with outside providers. OD co-management lead.

Responsibilities:
- Outside Provider Support
- In charge of scheduling all surgical referrals from outside clinics.
- Lead in launching OD referral portal through Promptly.
- Clear and prompt communication with referring provider throughout the entire process. Including, appointment (schedule post op day 1), consents, expectations, lens choice (payment), and post op care (drop instructions).
- Updating outside clinics with any changes, new services we provider, and requirements.
- Regularly scheduled check-ins with referring provider offices. Determine if there are any areas we need to improve. What is working well, what is not working well, etc.
- Tracking referrals and reporting quarterly to providers and Administrator
- Assisting Administrator and Administrative Assistant with setting up and organizing OD outreach. May require some work after hours.
- In charge of scheduling all surgical referrals from outside clinics.
- Coordinators Support
- Placing surgical orders with surgery center for all providers. Complete orders will be provided by the surgical coordinators.
- Schedule patient surgery dates
- Providing surgery time requests from patients and any additional instructions from surgeon to surgery center.
- Assists the front desk in scheduling surgical evals when necessary.
- Responsible for all necessary prior authorizations and communication with patient and surgical center on status and determination.
- Ensuring any PIOL charges are correct and collecting payments prior to date of surgery. Communication to referring ODs on PIOL payments.
- Completed surgical chart to liaison day of surgery for:
- Bill out surgery and creating surgical encounter in EMR
- Complete co-management letter & sent to referring OD same day. Remind surgeon to communicate with OD on outcome/AIM.
- Provider in house post op instructions to technicians
- Scan into EMR
- Collects and presents pertinent data regarding surgical volume, time from initial patient contact to surgery, wait times for surgery, optometric referral patterns, etc.
- Patient Support
- First point of contact for patient calls. Triaging all surgical calls/voicemails.
- Assisting with scheduling or rescheduling patient appointments.
- Ensure patients are scheduled for pre-op visits in a timely manner.
- Answering patient’s questions regarding appointment times.
- Obtains ABN and collects payment if paying day of. If patient does not pay day of collect prior to surgery.
- Sends patient home with completed surgical folder.
- Coordinating rides for patients, if needed.
- Responsible for pre-education
- Phone call to CAT evals scheduled day prior.
- Review what to expect.
- Introduce cataract landing page.
- Answer any questions.

- Stuffing surgical folders

Bookkeeper
This individual is responsible for assisting the Practice Administrator and President with a smooth and efficient functioning of all aspects of operations, finances, employees, payroll and overseeing accounts receivable functions. Currently part-time with the possibility to move to full-time once we open our Surgical Center and Optical shop. You must be QuickBooks certified to apply.

Optician
Guide patients through the process of selecting appropriate frames and lenses depending on specific patient needs. Must also be able to work with frame vendors and labs to get jobs submitted and dispensed in an effective manner.

Reports to: Managing Optician
Compensation: $22-$28
Responsibilities:
- Ability and willingness to learn fundamentals of optics, ophthalmic lenses, fitting and adjustmentof frames, ophthalmic lens prescriptions and sales techniques.
- Checking in orders from lab to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Capacity to develop a rapport with patients of all ages and demographics to facilitate the sale ofeyeglasses and accessories.
- Consistently demonstrates a high level of customer service in a compassionate, caring manner.
